He was Howard Hughes personal photographer for seven years and the first cameraman to record
Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall,in the remote jungles of Venezuela. But of the thousands of
photographs Knee took during the1930s and 40s,his heart, and eye, gravitated most to the majesty
of New Mexico's skies, churches, villages and  endless  landscapes. He became friends with many
artists of the time, including  Edward Weston, Gustave Baumann, John Sloan, Will Shuster, Ansel
Adams and many more. Through Mable Dodge Luhan, Knee was introduced to Georgia O'Keeffe
when she arrived  in N.M., and he took photographs of a number of her paintings, as he did for for
    other well known artists.
